January 15th was the day that we meet at Mantel Teter and received from the design team the 95% completed set of drawings and specification book. So that the KCBT staff could review all the material before going to the city and out for bids. For the next week that is all I did, eat sleep and study drawings and documents. I was able to produce a 6 page list of comments with the help of a few people on our staff and John Hefner. This process is to try to finish the documents as much as possible to limit the number of change orders that would be coming. Well on the 22nd of January, one week latter we meet again at Mantel Teter and started going over the comments. First with the civil engineer, Matthew Schlicht of Engineering Solutions, and then the MPE firm Hoss & Brown, Kurt Ewert and Brad Krier. Because of the number of comments we were unable to finish and planned on meeting again Friday at KCBT.
On Friday Skyler Phelps of Mantel Teter Architects, Jeff Cox and myself worked for another half of the day to finish the comments. We left the meeting with a lot of changes and hoping that in one week we would have the documents ready to go to the city and to Pearce for biding.
That same day, Friday January 23, I started working on the items that I needed to work on prior to the release. I contacted KCP&L to setup a meeting to discuss the new service and easement and the relocation of a power pole. Also MGE for the gas meter and regulator issues for the plumbers scope of work and the re-work of the connection of the gas line for Temple Heights by MGE. I also emailed the ceiling plan for the current facility to Skyler for the sky light locations. The MEP's wanted a listing of which lights in the new building would be on the DDC control panel and I reviewed the plans with Chris Ruzicka prior to sending the information.
