Ground Breaking Trial Run

This week was full of details leading up to the start of the construction. Early in the week I had the pleasure of taking around to all of our current buildings Adamson & Associates the appraisers for a report to the bank for the loan process.

We finished up the magnetic locks for the auditorium so that space will be lockable as it would be open to contractors or anyone else since the building will be so open during construction.

Meet with another trash firm to see if we have any options for trash service now and when the building is finished.

Wednesday was the scheduled day for KCMO code review department to give the first round of comments to the architects, which did not happen. We also had a meeting with the general contractor to review the bids and select the firms that we wanted to be included in the project. In most cases we selected the lowest bidder but not in all cases. When we reviewed the bids some of the next to lowest bidders were selected because of the scope of work or because of the ability of the firm to perform better. We finished with only two areas that needed more information, plumbing, and site utilities. A meeting is scheduled Monday to find out more about the contractor.

Pearce also had a job trailer delivered to the site, for the ceremony on Sunday along with gold shovels and hard hats, but the small trailer will be replaced with a larger one before we get started.

On Thursday we did a trial run in the parking lot for the ground breaking ceremony, and it as cold. Pearce was by and painted lines on the parking lot for the outline of the building and help setup barricades that will be used on Sunday.

Today, Friday 3/13 is the day that Jamie of Pearce Construction is calling the subcontractors and letting them know the outcome.

I can say that this week is one of the times that you can see answers to prayer. When the bid totals come in at 2 million dollars below the projected amount. The bank loan can be done for 2 million dollars less and lots of the fees that are based on the construction cost dropped and the details have just dropped into place. Praise GOD!
